Trip to D.C.

Sammy and I made a trip to Reston, VA to visit a friend from Radford....Christina. We were room mates our senior year. This was our first meeting since 98...we had a lot of catching up to do!

Christina's little girl is 4 and was very sweet...Sammy had a great time.

Testing the water

Sammy experienced the Pamunkey river today. He wasn't sure at first, but soon he sat down and started to splash around. He loved it so much...it was hard to get him out of the river.

Busch Gardens

So today we went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I worked there as a teenager, and had not been back in years. This trip was all about Sammy, we went with my sister, Sandra, and her 2 sons...and we all made sure Sammy hit all of the kiddie rides. He had a blast...especially riding in the airplane. There is a new section to the park dedicated to Sesame Street...Sammy saw Elmo, Burt and Ernie and even Big Bird. He wasn't scared at all...he loved every minute of it. He is such a great kid...he was nothing but happy and content the entire time we were there. I just could not ask for a better child!

To Virginia we go!

Sammy and I have made our way to the Pamunkey Reservation...on the way, we stopped by my Alma Mater, Radford University. Our first stop was Canton...I worked here the last 2 years I attended Radford. I have many fond memories of this place...it was great to be back. The food was still great and had only gone up 25 cents since 1995...I had lunch for $3.25...incredible. The place and Simon had not changed...it was a little surreal!

I'm telling you...the man does not age! Simon you were my favorite boss!

Sean, the manager, has been there for 20 years!! Has 2 degrees from Radford.....

Me, Sam and Simon...

Sammy enjoying some fried wonton with duck sauce...he was just a little sticky afterwards...
"Get that camera out of my face!"

BT's is a fine establishment....they were kind enough to hire me my sophomore year....but very happy I moved on to Canton..

We visited a place where I spent a great deal of my time...the Art and music department...Then we strolled over to the Sculpture garden where I once had a piece displayed...

They haven't changed or added to the permanent collection....strange

Good bye, RU...I hope to visit again soon....

Sammy is a great traveler....the best!

Boating

Four and half years of living by Cordell Hull Lake...and we finally got to explore it! This is Sammy's first boat outing...I couldn't tell if he was enjoying it, or if he was terrified....but he didn't cry...so that is something! He had this stunned look on his face the entire time. Maybe next time he will loosen up.
